Social Media Approval Software: Tools Compared (2026)

Chasing sign-off over email is where most small teams lose time. This guide compares tools on how approvals actually work, and which plan you need to get them.

What to check before you choose

  • Can external reviewers approve without creating an account?
  • Are comments attached to the exact post and channel version?
  • Is there a clear status (waiting, changes requested, approved)?
  • Which price plan unlocks approvals?

How approval works in Wemify

  1. Create one draft and adapt it for each channel.
  2. Request approval and share a review link. The reviewer does not need an account.
  3. The reviewer approves or asks for changes on the post itself.
  4. Approved posts move on to scheduling and publishing.

Limits: Wemify has one approval step, not multi-level chains. Agencies needing several approval stages per client may prefer Planable.

The tools, reviewed

Planable

Where marketing teams work together on content

Visit Planable ↗

Overview. Agencies, in-house teams with strict brand governance, and any workflow where every post needs client or manager sign-off before publishing.

Strengths

  • •Client and internal approvals with comments, sign-off and revision history
  • •Realistic previews for every channel side-by-side
  • •Very fast to onboard clients (no login required for external approvers)
  • •Workspace pricing rather than per-channel

Weaknesses

  • •Analytics are thin, so most teams pair Planable with a separate reporting tool
  • •AI is limited to caption rewrites
  • •No unified inbox or listening
  • •Fewer integrations than Hootsuite or Sprout
Best for
Agencies and teams who live in approvals
When not to choose it
You're a solo creator or founder who publishes on your own; the approval-first UX is overhead you don't need.

Wemify

One workspace for content and growth

Visit Wemify ↗

Overview. Founders, solo marketers, and lean teams (1–5 people) who want the full loop: plan, draft with AI, get approvals, publish, analyse, in one calm workspace at a flat price.

Strengths

  • •AI that uses your Company Profile and workspace memory, so drafts stay on brand across campaigns
  • •Campaigns, not just posts: plan a goal, get a full timeline of posts across channels
  • •Native carousel publishing (1–10 images) with automatic aspect-ratio adaptation
  • •Approvals, analytics, and AI recommendations included at $24/mo, not gated behind an enterprise tier

Weaknesses

  • •Newer product than Buffer or Hootsuite, with a smaller integration surface
  • •No YouTube, Google Business Profile, Bluesky or Mastodon publishing yet
  • •No unified social inbox at parity with Sprout Social or Agorapulse
  • •Smaller community and template library than incumbents
Best for
Founders and lean marketing teams
When not to choose it
You need YouTube or Google Business Profile publishing today; you run a large agency with 20+ brands; or you need a mature unified inbox with SLAs and case management.
Pricing (price checked Oct 2026)

Buffer

Grow your audience on social

Visit Buffer ↗

Overview. Creators, solopreneurs, and small teams that mostly need to queue posts across 1–3 channels and don't need approvals or deep analytics.

Strengths

  • •Minimal scheduling queue that is quick to learn for basic posting
  • •Broad platform coverage including TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon
  • •Genuinely usable free plan
  • •Start Page (link-in-bio) included

Weaknesses

  • •Per-channel pricing scales up quickly: 5 channels + 2 seats gets expensive fast
  • •Essentials ($5/channel/mo, annual) has no approval workflows; approvals need Team ($10/channel/mo, annual)
  • •AI Assistant is a rewriter, not a strategist, with no brand memory or campaign planning
  • •Reporting is thin compared to Sprout, Metricool, or Hootsuite
Best for
Simple scheduling for creators and small teams
When not to choose it
You publish to 5+ channels (per-channel pricing bites), you need approvals without upgrading to Team, or you want an AI that actually plans campaigns instead of rewriting sentences.
Pricing (price checked Oct 2026)
$5/channel/mo (Essentials, annual) · Free plan: 3 channels, up to 10 scheduled posts per channel
Supported platforms
LinkedIn · Instagram · Facebook · X · TikTok · Pinterest · YouTube · Threads · Bluesky · Mastodon

Hootsuite

The social media tool for enterprise

Visit Hootsuite ↗

Overview. Mid-market to enterprise marketing teams that need approvals, listening, an inbox, ads management, and compliance controls in one place, and have the budget for it.

Strengths

  • •One of the most complete social suites: inbox, listening, analytics, ads, approvals
  • •Enterprise-grade permissions, SSO, and compliance controls
  • •Very broad integration ecosystem
  • •Battle-tested for regulated industries

Weaknesses

  • •Expensive: Standard starts at $99/user/mo (annual), and approval workflows need Advanced or higher
  • •UI feels heavy compared to modern tools like Buffer or Later
  • •AI Assistant (OwlyWriter) is a caption generator, not a strategist
  • •Steep learning curve for small teams
Best for
Mid-market and enterprise social teams
When not to choose it
You're a founder, creator, or small team. The price and complexity aren't justified for fewer than 5 seats.
Pricing (price checked Oct 2026)

  • •Strong Link in Bio (Linkin.bio) with shoppable posts
  • •Influencer marketing platform bundled in (Later Influence)

Frequently asked questions

What is social media approval software?+

A tool where drafts are reviewed and signed off before they are scheduled. It replaces screenshots in email, chat threads and spreadsheets with one place for comments and a clear approved status.

Can clients approve posts without an account?+

In some tools, yes. Wemify sends a review link the client opens without logging in. Planable also supports external approvers without login. Check this before you buy if your reviewers are clients.

Which plan do I need for approvals?+

It varies. Buffer requires its Team plan, Hootsuite its Advanced plan or higher, and Later its Growth plan or higher. In Wemify approvals are included on the paid plan.

Do I need approval software as a solo creator?+

Usually not. Approval workflows pay off when at least one other person, a colleague or a client, must sign off before posts go live.
